Bug Description
Binary package hint: rsyslog
Release: Karmic
Package version: 4.2.0-2ubuntu5
What I expected: at least weekly rotation of these logs
What I found: last rotation more than 2 weeks ago.
I upgraded to Karmic around 30 october. The last `old' versions of these logs are from 30 october and before, whereas before that time they were rotated at least weekly. The current versions of the logs have sizes ranging from 2 to 3 MB. A command `logrotate /etc/logrotate.

as a workaround, try:
logrotate -f /etc/logrotate. d/rsyslog
this rotated my logfiles, but i had to manually restart rsyslog in order to have it open a new /var/log/syslog
