I installed the kernels from comment #39 by Osagawara and it does solve the problem. However, when Karmic installs updated kernels from the repository the problem resurfaces. Any idea if and when these fixes will make it into the mainstream kernel? I would have thought this would have already made it into the mainline updates for karmic. This bug makes the machine totally useless. I even switched to OpenSuSE 11.2 for a shortwhile because of it.
