I find a solution with my laptop that have this problem and a very long boot time (about 15 minutes) : sony vaio pcg-grt716s

I edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg and i add "noapic nomce" options to line :
linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-15-generic root=UUID=xxxxxxxx ro splash quiet noapic nomce

I find that "noapic nomce" are boot options linked to bios bugs. I can't explain why it works but if this tip can help you.
