rsync-3 adds a feature that every non-English user has probably waiting for forever: --iconv, character set conversion. Before rsync-3, it was impossible to synchronize files on systems that use different character sets (eg. Linux and Mac, Linux and Windows, or Mac and Windows, just to name the most important three), if the file names contained non-ASCII characters.
Please make rsync-3 available for Ubuntu, at least as an option.
