Under System->Preferences, you can go to "Preferred Applications" and select Banshee for your Multiimedia choice. This may let it automatically detect that you have inserted a CD.

Anyway, this does help us determine where the fault lies. What will happen next in this bug report is that you will see a series of conversations by various programmers. You can largely ignore this conversation, which will be a good thing because it will likely be filled with jargon. You can be sure that if we need additional information from you, we will make sure to ask you directly as a separate reply.
