I see. I wondered if there might be something that's arranged so that the computer reads the operation differently, in what it recognizes as a different context, but I couldn't see how the computer could know what I was dragging-and-dropping into, since the icons look much the same to me, both having the "folder" image. I guess I was afraid there was something you had to do to tell it to copy the file before you dragged it or something.

Thank you for your reassurance. I'll do as you say, just to prove it to myself that that I can do it right, and that my computer really is as smart as you think it is!
