Bug Description

Most apps, such as Deluge and Pidgin, use the open / close animation when their interface is shown / sent to the notification area.

Rhythmbox and Transmission, however, use the minimise animation when the UI is hidden, and the create one when it is shown, which breaks consistency not only with other apps but also with itself.

Thank you for your bug. What window manager do you use? How do you send it to the notification area? What do you call "close animation"?

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm using Compiz, but it happens with Metacity too. I send it to the NA by clicking the NA RB icon. And I'm following Compiz's terminology here, but in Metacity "close animation" is what the window does when you press the close button (it just disappears) and "minimise animation" is what it does when you press the minimise button (it shows a black rectangle travelling to the taskbar or, in this case, to the NA).

Using the close animation seems to be wrong, the window is minimized, marking unconfirming for now, should probably be discussed upstream we don't want to divert from them there

I've just opened this bug upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464304

If minimise is the right animation to use it should be used when showing the UI again, I reckon. I have no clear preference for close over minimise, but a *proper* way to do it should be decided and specified somewhere for other apps to follow.

Charles, that was an insanely fast fix for Transmission, thanks! Marking fix committed for transmission (Ubuntu) as the fix exists upstream (r7112).
