Comment 86 for bug 448095

I'm reluctant to apply the PPA because I fear that if it breaks I will not be able to recover. Could someone summarize/update the cli steps as done by SvG in the past for 11.10 ? I've tried these manual steps but it broke my networking startup (i.e., updated resolvconf, libc, init/resolv.conf, removed rcS.d/S07, updated symlink). I could recover by backing up the original files. My S07 script is activated at startup so should I disable it with update-rc and exactly how ?
