quodlibet fails to start due to garbage config file

Bug Description

I've had a number of problems lately with quodlibet and have traced them to the fact that quodlibet periodically writes garbage to the ~/.quodlibet/config file and to other files it uses, for example, the files in the ~/.quodlibet/playlists/ folder. When the config file is corrupted, quodlibet fails to start at all and I get a message in the console saying there's a problem with the console file. My playlists occasionally disappear, in which case I find the same garbage in place of a plain-text file. When I removed these files or replaced them with backups, quodlibet would start normally but later the files would again be corrupted and I would have the same problems and have to remove the config file and copy the backups of my playlists back into the playlists folder. This may have something to do with the fact that X is often crashing lately. I think, but am not certain, that these files disappear or are changed to garbage when quodlibet is not cleanly shut down.
