@sphakka: what the hell? that wasn't even remotely on-topic but one sentence... and that one showed how little you cared to learn about the topic. I wouldn't call a hackish patch for recompiling the whole goddamn Qt framework a "workaround"...
The rest was just off-topic. Why you bitch about how current software doesn't run smoothly on ancient hardware it beyond me, especially since your salary, fortunately, would even allow for much more than a new Macbook. Also beyond me is what you need the magnifier from the effects for when there are tools that work without those or you could just increase the DPI setting.
