There is little hope for success. The bug has been reported in OpenSUSE, but it is closed as upstream (see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=552218 )

In fact, fixing this bug downstream on distro level is far from ideal (it doesn't really help me much, that it's fixed in Fedora). Ideally, it would be fixed upstream in QT. But I am not very optimistic that this will happen in the near future (and apparently so are you). So I wonder whether fixing it on KDE level would be an appropriate and pragmatic solution. If not, I'm curious why. After all, it is listed as one of the top ten most hated bugs on the KDE(!) Bug Tracking System.
