Not too different I'd think :-/
Due to that I'm unsure where to go next.

Maybe after all my "multiple monitors" theory might be important (the laptop has 5 the working test box just 1).
Let me know from your groovy tests what you've got and also what your monitor setup looks like (for the remote chance to be related).
