do you know if any other virsh activity is going on every time that happens? For instance, create, destroying, or even just listing guests?

I'm going to mark this as also affect libvirt (which i think is more likely to be the problem). Coudl you run 'apport-collect 1022901' to have apport upload some debugging information?
