Once I removed /usr/local/bin/python3.5 I was then able to fix the upgrade via 'sudo apt-get -f install'.
I tested installing python3 using the instructions at https:/ /passingcuriosi ty.com/ 2015/installing -python- from-source/ and sure enough I received the same Traceback.
