pycentral crashed with AttributeError in byte_compile()

I just ran update manager and after installation completed, I got an error message and this crash report for python-central. It had something to do with the update manager, but I'm not sure what triggered the crash. However, desktop effects were not working for a little while and after updating this, desktop effects are now working again. I'm not sure if that was relevant or not, but it did happen at the same time as updates.
