Forgive me for not understanding the interactions between Ubuntu and its variants, but if Ubuntu says "yes we support it," and the variants say "no, we specifically remove it" then isn't it the job of each to do what they say? (For example, if Ubuntu supports PA, it supports it 100% as the default, whereas the variants specifically remove PA, therefore they have some other system as the default.)
