It was the /etc/init.d/pulseaudio, which terminated because of a missing feature --dissalow-exit.
But I also found out that the daemon does not solve the problem. By using the console and alsamixer -c1, I can configure my sound, so it seems it it a mixer_applet2 bug.
Unfortunatley the virtualisation sound from KVM is broken at the moment. So I keep patient :-)
