Hi, I think I have the same issue with an ASUS X51L, Intel 82801H:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 04)
Sound OK - but no Mic. Ibex on 2.6.27-7-generic. Maybe its less Dell more InDell related? ;-)
