The audio on my laptop drops when I open a new application (or switch to a different one). Sometimes it happens when switching tabs. It does not matter which application is playing audio, the audio usually stops when the application is switched.

The typical workaround is to kill pulseaudio and start it again but that requires me to restart the application which is playing the audio. I found a better workaround which is to open PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) and toggle the profile from "Play HiFi quality music" -> "Off" -> "Play HiFi quality music".
