I rebooted kernel 2.6.24-17-generic with the parameter nohz=off, and, using the default PulseAudio configuration, stutters continue. Easily reproducible by playing a movie in VLC and moving around its window or minimizing/maximizing Firefox simultaneously. In fact, it stutters even when the system is otherwise idle.
