I have this bug _but_ it went away about two months ago after some updates but has returned with vengeance a couple of updates ago and after the latest updates (including kernel and pulseaudio) it's really borked.
Previously I'd have no sound until I did pulseaudio -k which would fix everything.
Now if I do this I _still_ have no audio until I run pavucontrol and reselect my sound device (which pavucontrol says is unavailable), then restart all my sound producing programs and, because the volume controls in KDE are broken, I have to restart plasmashell.
