Daniel, the audio card id string seems to be the same, so I suspect it might be the same issue.
Anyway, I have found the culprit. Sound card was intercepted by another process (timidity), so Pulseaudio was unable to use it.
I have discovered the offending process via the `sudo fuser /dev/snd/*` command.
Uninstalling timidity has solved the issue.
