The first command returned the error "Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory"
I then looked for the client.conf folder in ~/.config/pulse/ but there was no folder of that name.
I did find one in ~/.etc/pulse/ but despite seemingly having root access, every time I attempted to edit the file, error: 4 was returned and more research indicated that the file is read only and so far I have been unable to find a way to write the edited file in order to reproduce the issue and provide a log.
Thank you for the information Tanu Kaskinen.
