This broken behaviour of providing invalide DNS servers is normal, I gave a bit of an explanation in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/248630
I just found this bug exactly because NM 0.7 (last package in hardy) does have the ipv4, but when I choose "Automatic (PPP) addresses only" and define the DNS servers and search domain, it still uses the broken DNS info coming from the network.
Any suggestions?
