That's the error:
2009-06-20 10:01:30 EST FATAL: could not access private key file "server.key": Permission denied

Please give me the output of these commands:

  id postgres
  ls -ld /etc/ssl/private/
  sudo ls -l /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key
