Sorry! My previous comment is related to bug #248355 which was misleadingly marked as duplicate of this one. The confusion began here at comment #16.

So I will move my previous comment and hope that this comment helps to clarify: this bug is about bad FONT rendering, whereas bug #248355 is about bad GRAPHICS rendering (e.g. scanned documents)
