thank you all for your time. i finally found out how to downgrade
packages by downloading them manually from the web ubuntu dapper package
download. i then used dpkg -i to install them.
i didnt know that apt-get and synaptics couldnt do downgrades. somehow
these packages were too high in version number. perhaps from when i
tried to get rhythmbox 0.95 running.
is there a better and more efficient way to downgrade for future
reference? couldnt synaptics give the option to downgrade packages which
have higher versions than the repos?
thanks for helping me out. thanks sebastian for pointing out to me that
this package is not part of dapper and needed to be downgraded.
after downgrading libpoppler1 and libpoppler1-glib its all good and kde
is downloading...
