Everyday printing tasks (web pages, short letters, etc.) seem to work fine on my ancient HP DeskJet 840C with Karmic. I never hit the multiple page sizes problem, and I never got around to installing Jaunty, so I can't specifically confirm that those problems are fixed, but FWIW I can say that everything seems to work at least as well in Karmic as in Hardy.
