Bug Description

In Ubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx, when i resume the computer from hibernate or standby, screen saver kicks in and it wont go of if i move the mouse or press any key on keyboard. when i press a key on keyboard, screen saver stops moving. after i press esc, it starts to move again. mouse cursor is visible and it moves, but does not deactivate the screen saver. alt +f*, ctrl+alt+f* does not work except for ctrl+alt+f10. when i press ctrl+alt+f10, it shows my username and asks for a password. but this window appears for only a second, then the screen goes blank, only a flashing underscore(_) is shown. i have to press reset button and perform a fresh boot.

My computer configuration is as follows.
AMD Athlon II X3 425 2.7Ghz
2 GB Ram
ATI 4670 GPU

Need info: Does this still happen if you set the gconf key /desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_lock_screen=true?
What graphics driver do you use?

Have a nice day :)

i only tested it once but, it did not happen after i set the key true. i use proprietary fglrx graphics driver for ati/amd.

I've experienced a similar problem with 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04. I can reproduce it by turning on the screensaver and closing the lid of my laptop. It doesn't happen all the time, but a lot of the time when I press a key or touch the trackpad to bring up the login screen, the display just remains blank.

I should add that I am not using any proprietary drivers, only the ones that came with the original installer. I'll provide an apport dump.

Is this reproducible in the latest release of Ubuntu via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ?

If so, please execute the following via a terminal in order for the necessary debugging information to be attached:
