hum, it's a bit puzzling ... suspend on lid close works if you use HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend right?

does it work if you close the lid on a vt?

could you also add your ~/.cache/upstart/unity-settings-daemon.log to the bug (would maybe also be worth doing a stop u-s-d and try without it/start it with --debug and add the log, or edit /usr/share/upstart/sessions/unity-settings-daemon.conf)
