I don't see any way this could be related to erasing or not of the previously-installed OS. However, this is the second bug in a row against plymouth (bug #1278360) reporting this issue, which should not be possible at all unless you've damaged your filesystem in some way. As I wrote on the other bug:
The /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-text/ directory belongs to the plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text package. You have a damaged installation, either due to some incorrect manual removal of files on your part, some third-party software breaking the install, or disk corruption. You will need to reinstall the package with 'apt-get install --reinstall plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text' to correct this.
So do you have any idea why this directory is missing from your system?
