Saucy has 4.2.1 in their repo:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/playonlinux

If it says that you need to install curl and p7zip, simply install them, and the errors will not be there. Its quite trivial. Simply install, and use as usual. If you are missing a dependency, it will say, so just install the dep, and continue about your day. :D
