Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

This computer plays the first milliseconds of a Pidgin event sound distorted. They sound like an overdriven analog audio amplifier. An often heard Pidgin event sound is a triad. In a triad only the first tone appears to be distorted.
I have no idea where this transient comes from.

Same here (on x86-64, with snd_hda_intel). If I use ALSA, there is no distortion; if I use "Command" and "aplay %s", no distortion either. Probably related to Bug #648839?
