On Ubuntu Jaunty (updated to today 22 March 2009), with Pidgin 2.5.5, The Buddy List taskbar icon (below in the bottom GNOME panel), shows on all virtual desktops. While the window is only actually visible on a single virtual desktop.
This is weird and broken behaviour. The taskbar button for the Buddy List should only show on the virtual desktop where the actual window is present. And NOT on other virtual desktops.
I'm suspecting this broken behaviour was explicitly patched in.
Although I'm not entirely sure, the following patch might be the culprit:
11_buddy_list_really_show.patch
Please revert Pidgin to normal behaviour... The windows manager should manage the windows... not the application itself!
