Hi,
This is a networking issue, so you should check all network related settings (firewalls, router ports etc.). Check the network settings in pidgin, Tools > Preferences > Network.
Please run pidgin --debug in a terminal and reproduce, the output should give you some clues to what is causing this. You can attach the output to this bug if you like, so we can have a look.

Hi,
yeah, that sounds a lot like a ISP error, or something that we cannot fix. Anyway, if this issue comes back, and you think there is a bug after all, please reopen this report by setting the status back to "new".
