Bug Description

When you launch pidgin as a Startup applciation in Ubuntu 13.04, the buddy-list-window launches, but is grayed out in a locked up state. If you click the exit button, Ubuntu will ask you if you want to Force quit.

Reproduce:
1) sudo apt-get install pidgin
2) If you don't already have an IM account setup (in pidgin), launch pidgin and set up at least one IM account.
3) Super Key > type "startup" (no quotes), and select "Startup Applications" icon.
4) Click the "Add" button.
5) Type "pidgin" as the name, and also enter "pidgin" for the command (no quotes), then click the add button.
6) Close "Startup Applciations" and reboot your computer.

After logining in, the buddy-list-window will open but it will be in locked and grayed-out state.

Used to work for me immediately after upgrade. Then I've installed pidgin-libnotify, and hit the problem described above. After removing pidgin-libnotify it still doesn't work.

Fixed after both deinstalling pidgin-libnotify AND rm ~/.config/indicators/messages/applications-blacklist/pidgin-libnotify

Then installed pidgin-libnotify and the problem reoccured.

When pidgin is launched as a Start Up Application, is it somehow launching so early that some of its dependencies aren't fully ready to facilitate pidgin's launch?

After upgrade to1:2.10.7-0ubuntu4.1 it works for me, so maybe this is duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/1108056
