I'm not a debian user myself, but I though some might be interested at
least.
For Fedora Legacy, I've created a backport of OpenPKG's php patch,
towards 4.1.2. It's attached.
I'd welcome more eyeballs looking at it, correct any mistakes and
omissions (if any :).
FWIW, I'm not sure if the patch is essential, but if you are worried
about maliscious or badly behaving scripts or safe-mode escalation, it
might be useful.
