It looks like the driver is libccid.
What is the result of:

  $ ls /usr/lib/pcsc/drivers/

Do you also have the crash with pcsc-lite 1.5.5?
This version is not yet in Ubuntu but is available since July 2009 from https://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=30105
