Confirming your own bug? Hmmm.

Anyways, I dont' have 11.10 to try this out on and I left the 12.04 box at home, but in 12.10 there is no issue with this. In fact, it recognizes there is a file of the same name and asks if you want to overwrite, rename, etc. Handles it quite well. This is with:

$ apt-cache policy pcmanfm
pcmanfm:
  Installed: 1.0.1+bzr801+201210081425~quantal1
  Candidate: 1.0.1+bzr801+201210081425~quantal1
  Version table:
 *** 1.0.1+bzr801+201210081425~quantal1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-daily/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     1.0.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/universe i386 Packages
     1.0.1-0ubuntu1~ppa1 0
        500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/lubuntu-dev/staging/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages

which is obviously a bleeding edge version (it's from lubuntu-daily as you can see) but it does indeed have a fix committed.

Same result than Walter, I can't reproduce the behavior on 12.10. By doing the test case of the bug report, I have a dialog which pop-up and ask me if I want to overwrite or not the file on Desktop/TestFolder.

Don't direct that to me, Julien. I'm the one who said it worked fine. :)

I dont understand why you are testing the dialog. The test involves
if the files are deleted or not.

I tested whether or not the files are deleted. They're not because you're given a dialog asking what you want to do with them. Make sense now?

in my test, i tested with an empty directory, so I naturally confirmed
the dialog warning me about "overwriting files" since the directory
was empty I can't imagine being concerned with overwriting files I
can't exist.
so no it makes 0 sense.

so the TestFolder in the trash is NOT empty.

> 4) Now create another empty "TestFolder" in your desktop folder. (like in the step 1)

this one's empty.

> 5) Go to trash, right click on "TestFolder" and click Restore.

now what happens here is not clear. does it replace the new one with the old one, the old one with the new one, or does it offer you options?
OP and you (I think?) say that it just sort of makes the original non-empty TestFolder disappear:

> 6) Now your files are lost

but Julien and I instead get a dialog that is aware of this conundrum and asks the user to act.

clear?

why should pcmanfm be deleting files when restoring to an empty
folder? please answer that specific question and not mention the
dialog.
