Bug Description

If you built mod_passenger with apache2-prefork-dev instead of apache2-threaded-dev, then it can be installed along side non-threadsafe modules like libapache2-mod-php5. This would be a very common situation.

This causes a bit of a problem for me as well.

The official install instructions at
http://modrails.com/documentation/Users%20guide%20Apache.html#_apache_development_headers_aren_8217_t_installed suggest building with prefork as well.

sudo apt-get install apache2-prefork-dev

John, anyone else in the same situation,

I've rebuilt passenger against prefork and made it available
from my PPA
https://launchpad.net/~a.kurtz/+archive/ppa

I'm using it without problems so far.

Chuck,
It looks as if lucid allows libapache2-mod-php5 and libapache2-mod-passenger to coexist already.
I believe this was fixed in debian bug #545872, which was included when passenger2.2.7debian-1 was synced.

This bug was fixed in libapache2-mod-passenger 2.2.5debian1-1 in upstream debian. These changes are already in Ubuntu lucid, closing the bug report.
