For me it happen every time when I choose 'something else' because the ssd is already partitioned like that:
- sda1 Netrunner 14 x64 ext4 (root + home) - sda2 Data ext4 (my data) - sda3 Windows 7 ntfs - sda4 Extended partition - sda5 Test ext4 (here is where I want to install the latest Ubuntu version - root + home) - sda6 Swap
The installation fail when Ubiquity try to format sda5 "/". I hope that can help.
