Can someone try this on Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Live CD?
System > Administration > Partition Editor

Also provide the output of these commands (Applications > Accessories > Terminal):

lspci
lsusb
sudo lshw -C disk
sudo hdparm -i /dev/sd?
