@hockenberry32: I don't think your sarcasm is warranted. gnome-disks uses udisks2, which uses libblockdev, which uses libparted. I confirmed gnome-disks misbehaviour with extended partitions that was fixed by cherry-picking the parted fix mentioned in comment #23.
