I need to note that if your /etc/pam.d/common-* config files were modified locally, you will have to fix them manually and wont be prompted to merge your changes with the new version as these files aren't conffiles and the only logic in libpam-runtime.postinst is to upgrade conffiles if their md5sum didn't change.
