The bug still exists in Lucid, as well. And exists in Fedora 11. If you look at the tabs for active windows, you should see a "Starting Administrative ...", but it won't pop-up.
This might be related to the problem described on ThinkWiki at http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader_with_ThinkFinger#GNOME, but I haven't yet looked at the current code. The prompt, when authenticating on the console, is "Scan right index finger on UPEK TouchStrip."
