I've been unable to recreate this bug when ssh'ing from an Jaunty system using openssh-client version 1:5.1p1-5ubutu1 to a Karmic system with openssh-server version 1:5.1p1-6ubuntu1. Could you please set the LogLevel to DEBUG on the server and include '/var/log/auth.log' with the failure? Additionally what openssh client are you using?
