3) What is expected is when one performs at the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/668079/+attachment/1714992/+files/OObug_RotatedText.ods && localc -nologo OObug_RotatedText.ods

and the cells with "shrink to fit", rotated 90 degrees, are visible as they are in Microsoft Office Excel Viewer.

4) What happened instead is the cells show no content unless Vertical Alignment is set to 'Bottom".

WORKAROUND: Use Gnumeric.

A strange thing: tested with OpenOffice 3.3 and LibreOffice 3.3 on windows, and LibreOffice has this issue, OpenOffice 3.3 doesn't have this. I thought all the changes from oo.org 3.3 were included in Libo 3.3

jimav, I am closing the bug task for LibreOffice because it has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Oneiric Ocelot.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do steps 1 and 2 of the SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
