Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I'm on this system:

lars@lars-ubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd && uname -a && apt-cache policy openoffice.org
Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04
Linux lars-ubuntu 2.6.32-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 28 13:28:05 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux
openoffice.org:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4
  Version table:
     1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages

I know. openoffice.org is not installed. But exactly that seems to be causing the openoffice writer to crash when trying to use Tools-Bibliography database.
If I start ooffice -writer from a terminal at choose bibliography database it crashes instantly and with the following error.
lars@lars-ubuntu:~$ terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::loader::CannotActivateFactoryException'

After some research today among members om the danish ubuntu community it seems that people who DON'T experince this crash have the package openoffice.org installed. Here's a weird google translation of the thread: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http://ubuntudanmark.dk/forum/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D13%26t%3D10862&sl=auto&tl=en

These crashes happens regardless of architecture (32 or 64 bit) on both the LiveCD and the default ubuntu and kubuntu installations. It does not happen on Mint 9 - but that does come with the openoffice.org installed by default.

Another user just tested if the crash still happens if you install the openoffice.org package - it doesn't. So a fix is just to install that package. I'm reporting this anyway because I think it should be fixed on default install at least for 10.04.1 because it makes the ubuntu-distros look kind of bad and the fix is easy (but it probably will cost 14 MB on the liveCD).
