I find it very odd that this bug is given a low priority. I'm a big fan of
Linux and I can live with it. However, I find it very uncomfortable to
answer someone's question "Would I feel any inconvenience if I switched
from Windows to Ubuntu?" No, you'll just need to exit manually
quickstarter each time when you want to shut-down... Or: No, it's ok, it's just
that every document will be loading 5 seconds or more.
Common, Open-Office is not just an application -- it's an essential tool
for most people. If its' working very slow, or if it's causing problems
for people to shutdown their computer, impression about Ubuntu remains
as "some interesting experiment" or "maybe after ten years it's worth
trying".
