Further to my two posts above, concerning frequent crashes of OOo and ubuntu when setting up the spell checker.
1)This has nothing to do with crashes using notes in .doc files, so I am on the wrong thread Sorry!
2)The spell checker has to be set up properly which needs some research on the internet . The answers via tutorials are all there. Its a pity it is complex. It is easy to crash ubuntu when you struggle with the options for this.
3)I have no problems now with Ubuntu 9.10 and the spell checker and am now happy with my word-processing.
4)Best of luck with the 'notes' problem. I am sure it will be solved Sorry to waste space on this thread
